Plane trip
We returned last weekend from New Mexico. We had gone for a family baptism. It was Leelee's first plane trip. The next time, I will definitely buy a seat for her, no matter what the cost. I was just banking on the flights being pretty empty, but this was not the case.
On the first leg (DC to Dallas) we managed to get a seat for her and installed her car-seat. She napped and it was not so bad. On the second leg (Dallas to El Paso), the flight was booked and Leelee was sitting on my lap, in the Maya sling. This is not only uncomfortable but dangerous. Basically your child becomes your air-bag! There is no extra oxygen mask in case you need it. Leelee was so tired, the poor thing, that she did take a nap, but I am sure she would have been less sweaty and more comfy in her car-seat.
On the return flight, there were flight delays because of bad weather in Dallas.. so once again, Leelee was a lap-child. We finally got home at 11.30pm.... the poor baby was so tired, i felt really bad. It is not right to subject an innocent child to stuff like this.. she did not ask for it, she had no choice. She was so thrilled to be back home and so were we!
That is not to say that we did not have a great time while we were there. We had a blast, meeting family and eating enchiladas. But home is home. I guess that is why we take vacations, we learn to appreciate HOME that much more!!
